The town of Tann is a remarkable hidden gem, full of half-timbered houses and a charming castle. The highlight of the town is a small open-air museum documenting life in the Rhön Highlands before the 20th century. From there, the hike takes you up and around the Habelberg mountain with sweeping vistas of the pastoral Rhön landscape.
This route takes you along a panorama tour through the edge of ancient Fuldaer Land. The monastery of Zella was a major administrative center for the Prince-Abbots of Fulda and marked the eastern edge of their territory. The trip's highlight will be a short excursion into one of the last remaining groves of Yes trees in Germany.
