Hiking: The Primeval Yew Forest

This route takes you along a panorama tour through the edge of ancient Fuldaer Land. The monastery of Zella was a major administrative center for the Prince-Abbots of Fulda and marked the eastern edge of their territory. The trip’s highlight will be a short excursion into one of the last remaining groves of Yes trees in Germany. The Ibengarten preserve has around 400 yew trees, many more than 400 years old. The remainder of the trip is a series of forested and pastoral panoramas of the ancient Fuldaer landscape.
