Hiking: The Lüneburg Meadows

The heath meadows of the Lower Saxon plains near Lüneburg are some of the most recognizable landscapes of Northern Germany. In the late summer and early autumn months, the meadows bloom, turning the landscape into a rich hue of violet and purple. This hike is an introductory look at the meadows, though the Lüneburger Heide National Park offers a multitude of other routes.

How to Get Here:

  • The trail starts in Wintermoor an der Chausee Station, located outside of Hamburg but can also be reached from Lüneburg or Bremen.
