This is less of a hike and more of a guided tour. Blankenberg is a remarkable Sieg Valley village with a beautifully preserved old town and castle ruins. The traces of the medieval village, which today is an empty field, makes it even more interesting. Burned in the 30 Years War, the town moved out of the old walls, and today what seems like a large castle is mostly the traces of a medieval city. The surrounding valley is all beautiful, make sure to check out the local dairy farm and monastery.
