Metilsteiner
The Wartburg castle sits on an ancient road from Frankfurt to Erfurt. However, while the trade caravans would have traveled along the lowland route, a highland road connected Wartburg to the other side of the Thuringian Forest. This hike takes you on a panorama tour from the ruins of the Brandenburg castle to the center of Eisenach along this ancient path.
Mhohenwald
Mölln sits on the old Salt Road between Lüneburg and Lübeck and was the location of a Slavic settlement before it was conquered in the 12th century by German settlers. Despite that, it spent most of its history under Danish and Lübeckian rule. This hike takes you around the marshes and meadows around the charming old town of Mölln.
Niteshift
The town of Ratzeburg sits on an island that once formed the center of an ancient Slavic settlement. When the Saxon colonists crossed the Elbe in the 12th century, Henry the Lion had a massive cathedral constructed on the site to symbolize the arrival of Christianity and the Germans. The surrounding landscape is one of marshes and waterways, which this hike highlights.
Axel Hindemith
This hike is more of a guided walk through the forests and gardens of the summer hunting palace of Solitude. This palace was the retreat of the Dukes of Württemberg, though by the time it was built, Napoleon had started his march across Europe, and the estate was never fully developed. Today it is a glimpse into the courtly culture of the late 18th century.

This route takes you along a panorama tour through the edge of ancient Fuldaer Land. The monastery of Zella was a major administrative center for the Prince-Abbots of Fulda and marked the eastern edge of their territory. The trip's highlight will be a short excursion into one of the last remaining groves of Yes trees in Germany.
