Exploring the Westerwald
The Westerwald is a heavily forested highland region that hugs the right bank of the Rhine Valley as it cuts through a series of small mountain ranges. To a large extent unsuitable for agriculture, the region did not develop instep with nearby regions, leaving a heritage of medieval towns, castles, and monasteries.
